Where are the molds made?

We design and produce all of our molds in-house in Sacramento, California.

What are the molds made of?

We use platinum cure silicone of a carefully selected softness to take advantage of its long library life and virtually no shrinkage (less than 0.001 mm, per mm). Although this type of silicone rubber is the most expensive of all mold rubber types suitable for vessel making, it is the only type to guarantee our level of quality and durability.

How long do the molds last?

The actual number of pours you can expect varies widely based on what material you are pouring, how often you cast, and how you clean and store your molds.

Ultimately, it is best to know that silicone molds are consumable tools that will naturally degrade over time with use, perhaps similar to a knife but without the ability to "resharpen" your mold.

While your mileage may vary on a case-by-case basis, you should generally expect a minimum of several hundreds of casts with most common pouring materials. Our raw material silicone supplier suggests that with good care, molds made using their material may yield many, many more casts.
